The Team: Garry (owner/operator) has been running LaffingDogs for over 6 years now including doing the physical work, the marketing, the administration, as well as garden design and consultation. As well as the years of experience, Garry also has completed several courses in horticultural studies.
Yvette Roberts (administration) has been doing the "paperwork" for LaffingDogs since 2004.
Seasonal workers: each season we hire 2 to 4 staff to help out with the yard clean-ups and other landscaping tasks.
Our passions and committment: LaffingDogs is committed to doing what we can to help the environment. We use only non-chemical means of "weed" and "pest" control and in the future have plans to phase out gas-powered equipment and focus on non-polluting, silent gardening methods. The organic horticultural roots of the business come from Garry's experience growing up on a 1000 acre farm surrounded by forests and watching his Dad grow a huge organic vegetable garden each summer there. Garry developed a love for the outdoors and a connection with the Earth; a realization of the importance of plants and growing plants without use of harmful chemicals.
The name: The catchy (at least we hope it is) name was inspired by two canine companions Sophie and Cedar who after a long hike on the local trails were panting happily and seemed to be. . . smiling? laughing? Laffing? It also reflects our love of animals and the earth and our committment to not pollute any of nature with pesticides, herbicides or any other harsh chemicals.
LaffingDogs Lawn & Garden Services began in a backyard in North Vancouver in the summer of 2003 inspired by one man, his dog Sophie and his love of nature. Now in our seventh year, LaffingDogs has become an estabilished, professional level gardening and landscaping company with a solid client base serving North Vancouver from Capilano to Deep Cove.
Sophie (the company figurehead) left us for doggy heaven in the Spring of 2008. She left a huge void in our lives and will always be a part of the LaffingDogs spirit.
Meet Charlie, the newest memeber of the team. Charlie is 8 weeks old and our son Kyan's new best friend.
