Composting is a natural process that converts organic materials into a valuable soil amender you can use to improve the health of your garden.  Besides being the best possible soil fertilizer available, composting also reduces the amount of waste going to our landfills - a step towards helping the environment by reducing green-house gases.

Compost is made easily by collecting your leaves, kitchen scraps (see below), and grass clippings in a pile.  This can be done naturally, a pile in the corner of your yard somewhere, or in a purchased or built compost bin.

Need some help getting started?  We can do a consult to teach you all you need to know to compost.  As part of our regular garden maintenance program we can also set up and/or maintain your compost and distribute it for you in the fall or early spring into your garden beds.

Contrary to popular belief, composters do not, if used and maintained properly, attract wildlife into your yard.  The key is to add only the proper kitchen scraps (see side note) and keep it maintained properly.
